Kaitlyn Washington singled to drive home Reagan Hathaway in the bottom of the seventh as the Longhorns closed out their participation in the St. Pete/Clearwater Elite Invitational with a 4-3 win over No. 18 Kentucky Saturday.
Brooke Bolinger earned the win in the circle, allowing no runs or hits in one inning of relief.
Miranda Elish started and gave up three runs on five hits through six innings. She had a good day at the plate, hitting a double that drove in two runs in the sixth.
Hathaway finished 2 for 4 with a run scored while Janae Jefferson also had two hits.
Bekah Alcozer had an RBI triple in the second inning to put the Longhorns ahead 1-0.
Kentucky took the lead in the third inning off an RBI single by Abbey Cheek.
After Elish put the No. 11 Horns back up 3-2 in the sixth, Mallory Peyton homered to tie the game in the top of the seventh.
Grace Baalman took the loss for Kentucky after pitching 6 1/3 innings.
