The Texas softball team had another strong day, belting out nine hits on the way to a 7-1 win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at McCombs Field on Wednesday.
Miranda Elish (6-3) earned the win as she didn’t allow a hit through four innings. She struck out eight, walked two and allowed one run. Brooke Bolinger picked up the save, pitching three innings and striking out three. The pitchers combined to allow just one hit, a double by Keagan Helson in the top of the sixth.
Kaitlyn Washington and McKenzie Parker each drove in two runs to power the Texas offense. Washington went 2-for-2 with a double and a run scored. Reagan Hathaway hit a triple and drove in a run. Seven Longhorns crossed home plate for Texas.
Washington started the scoring in the second inning, driving home Shannon Rhodes with an RBI single.
Texas put up two more runs in the third before a three-run fourth put the game out of reach. Parker’s two-run single in the fourth made it 6-1.
MK Tedder capped the scoring with a sacrifice fly in the sixth that scored Kaitlyn Slack.
