Shealyn O’Leary earned the honor of Big 12 co-pitcher of the week, the league announced Tuesday.
O’Leary won two games over the weekend, posting an ERA of 0.00. She struck out 10 batters in 12 innings during wins against BYU and No. 5 Tennessee.
Texas opened the Tennessee Invitational with a 9-1, run-rule win over BYU in which O’Leary struck out six and gave up just four hits. O’Leary pitched again Sunday, recording a complete-game shutout against Tennessee, striking out four.
The Texas freshman has already made UT softball history by starting her career 9-0. She hasn’t allowed a run in 12 1/3 innings and leads the Big 12 in ERA with a mark of 0.38.
The Longhorns open Big 12 play Friday against Iowa State. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. at McCombs Field.
