Texas men’s tennis team defeats Drake at ITA Kick-Off

The ninth-ranked Texas men’s tennis team breezed to a 4-1 win over Drake as the Longhorns hosted the ITA Kick-Off Weekend at the Weller Tennis Center on Saturday.
The Longhorns won the doubles point and added three singles victories to take the match.
Harrison Scott’s 6-2, 6-4 win over Ben Stride sealed the match for the Longhorns.
Christian Sigsgaard and Julian Zlobinsky won their match 6-1 before Leonardo Telles and George Goldhoff won by the same score to earn the doubles point.
Yuya Ito made it 2-0 with his 6-2, 6-0 win over Barnaby Thoroid. After Drake won its only point at second singles, Rodrigo Banzer defeated Ben Clark 6-3, 6-1 to put Texas up 3-1.
The Longhorns will face Oregon at 1 p.m. Sunday to try to advance to the ITA National Indoors.
