A pair of Longhorns once again claimed tennis player of the week honors, the Big 12 announced Tuesday.
Bianca Turati claimed her spot as the Big 12 women’s player of the week for the second time in a row while Christian Sigsgaard earned a share of the Big 12’s player of the week honor.
Turati won all matches she played in over the week, helping the Longhorns top Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.
Turati is currently on a five-match winning streak in singles and has moved into the No.17 spot in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association singles rankings. The team checks in at No. 7 on the latest ITA rankings and is set to take on TCU on Friday at 5 p.m. at the Texas Tennis Center.
For the men, that makes it three straight Longhorns to at least earn a share of the player of the week honor. Yuya Ito was the Big 12 player of the week for the last two weeks.
Sigsgaard beat two ranked opponents in singles wins over Texas Tech and Baylor. He also joined Harrison Scott in a doubles victory over the No. 9 duo for Texas Tech. It’s Sigsgaard’s second Big 12 player of the week honor this season. He currently is the No. 7 player in the ITA singles rankings. Teammate Ito is No. 5 as the team sits at No. 4.
The Longhorns next face No. 10 TCU on the road Saturday at 3 p.m.
