Both the Texas men’s and women’s tennis teams entered the preseason rankings in the top 10, the Oracle Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced Tuesday.
The men’s team matched its highest preseason ranking, checking in at No. 2 while the women sit at No. 7.
The defending national champions took four first-place votes and sit behind No. 1 Florida. The Texas men will meet Florida on Jan. 15 for its first dual match of the season.
In the men’s rankings, Baylor is No. 5 while TCU sits at No. 8, making it three Big 12 teams in the top 10. Oklahoma State took a No. 15 ranking with Oklahoma sitting at No. 22.
The men’s team will be led by seniors Christian Sigsgaard and Yuya Ito. Chih Chi Huang, Nevin Arimilli and Cleeve Harper also return. They’ll be joined by the nations top-ranked recruiting class.
The women are also the highest ranked Big 12 team with Oklahoma State sitting at No. 11 and Kansas at No. 19.
Stanford is the top-ranked women’s team.
The Turati twins, Bianca and Anna, Fernanda Labraña and Lexi Ryngler will lead the women’s squad.
