Posted October 27th, 2018

The Longhorns volleyball team picked up a third straight sweep in Big 12 action, topping Oklahoma 25-15, 25-20, 25-23 at Gregory Gym Saturday afternoon.

It took Texas five sets to defeat the Sooners the last time the teams played on Oct. 13 in Norman, Okla.

Micaya White led the Longhorns in kills, notching 13. She added nine digs and a service ace.

Logan Eggleston made 10 kills and led the team with two aces.

Sydney Petersen led the Longhorns with 13 digs while Ashley Shook added seven digs and led UT with 31 assists.

Yaazie Bedart-Ghani provided more defense as she paced Texas with four blocks.

With the first set tied 12-12, the Longhorns went on a 13-3 run to close out the set.

Oklahoma actually led 11-9 in the second set, but a 4-0 run put Texas back in the driver’s seat. The Longhorns never relinquished the lead after that.

The Sooners led most of the way in the third set, even holding a 22-20 lead late. Texas reeled off four straight points before closing out the match, however.

The Longhorns volleyball squad will next face TCU Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Gregory Gym.
