Texas freshman opposite hitter Skylar Fields only needed three sets on Saturday to impress voters in the Big 12.
Fields was named the Big 12’s offensive and rookie of the week on Monday. Texas only played one match last week, but Field was impressive in a sweep of West Virginia. Against the Mountaineers, Field hit .522 with 13 kills. She also recorded a career-high eight blocks.
This season, Fields has won three of the Big 12’s eight weekly awards for rookies. This was the first time that the Big 12 named the 6-2 Missouri City product as its top offensive player.
