Texas freshman Emilee Hoffman’s 69 Sunday helped put the Longhorns in a tie for 10th place after the first round of the thee-day UCF Challenge in Orlando, Fla.
Back-to-back birdies on Nos. 6 and 7 plus two additional birdies more than offset Hoffman’s lone bogey for a 3-under-par round that tied for 11th in the individual standings. In nine of her 15 rounds this season, she has matched par or better.
Teammate Sophia Schubert shot a 72 and is tied for 28th. UT’s Maddie Luitwieler tied for 39th with a 73, and teammates Julia Beck and Haley Mills were a stroke behind her in 53rd.
Isabelle Johansson of Kentucky topped the leaderboard with an 8-under 64.
UCF leads the team scoring with a 280, also 8 under. Kentucky and Wisconsin are tied for second, three strokes back. Texas is at 288.
