Texas’ Sophia Schubert shot a final-round 69 Tuesday to finish the UCF Challenge in Orlando, Fla. tied for seventh place. It was the junior’s second top-10 finish of the season.

It was the second day Schubert had a round of 69, which also helped the No. 19 women’s golf team to a third place finish in the team standings.

Schubert made five birdies Tuesday, including four on the back nine holes.

Senior Haley Mills also had a round of 69, climbing 18 spots to tie for 15th place overall with teammate Emilee Hoffman, a freshman.

Mills followed rounds of 74 and 70 to finish the tournament at 3 under par. She had six birdies Tuesday.

Hoffman had back-to-back rounds of 72 after an opening round 69.

Senior Julia Beck, a graduate of Lake Travis High School, climbed 12 spots on the final day with a even par 72. Maddie Luitwiler, a sophomore, finished five over par.

“It was a solid week. We had an outside chance today to get it done. … we came close,” said coach Ryan Murphy. “Individually, Sophia played well from start to finish. I am proud of her effort this week.”

Clemson finished first in the team standings with a score of 854 while Mississippi State’s Chieh Jessica Peng finished first individually at 11 under par.

Texas will return to action on Feb. 19 for the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate at the English Turn Golf and Country Club in New Orleans, La.
