The Texas women’s golf team is tied for fourth place after Friday’s first round of the Big 12 Championships, being held at the Dominion Country Club in San Antonio.
Sophia Schubert finished at 1-under 71 on the day to lead the No. 23 Longhorns. Texas shot 297 in the round to sit at 9 over par for the tournament.
Schubert made back-to-back birdies on the second and third holes and then added another on hole no. 7 before the turn. She finished the round with a birdie on the 18th hole and is tied for third.
Emilee Hoffman had the second best day for Texas, shooting a 73 to finish at 1-over for a tie for ninth. Her day was highlighted by three straight birdies on 11,12 and 13. She had six birdies on the day.
Haley Mills is at 4-over and tied for 24th while Julia Beck is tied for 29th at 5-over.
Freshman Greta Isabella Voelker is 7-over and tied for 37th.
TCU leads the tournament at 5-over 293 while Annika Clark of TCU leads all individuals at 3-under.
