The Texas women’s golf team vaulted to the top of the leaderboard Saturday at the Big 12 Championship after two Longhorns finished in the top three on the second day of action at the Dominion Country Club in San Antonio.
UT’s Sophia Schubert is the top individual. She shot a 72 and sits at 1-under-par 143 for the tournament, two strokes ahead of Yitsen Chou of Kansas. Schubert made three birdies in the round and made par on seven holes on the back nine. She moved up from third place, though she shot one stroke better in the first round.
Emilee Hoffman, a freshman, is tied for third after shooting a 73. She’s made a tournament-best nine birdies in two rounds.
Haley Mills is tied for 13th after moving up 11 spots with her 73.
Greta Isabella Voelker is tied for 30th at 11 over, and Julia Beck is tied for 38th at 13 over.
The Longhorns shot 294 and sit at 15 over, with Oklahoma State trailing by three strokes. Texas will tee off at 10 a.m. Sunday for the final round of the championship.
