The Texas women’s golf team sits in first place after the first round of the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational in Kaneohe, Oahu, Hawaii on Tuesday.
Texas was led by freshman Kaitlyn Papp who shot 71 and 74 in the first two rounds of action. She leads overall at 145, 1 over par. If Papp maintains the lead through Wednesday’s final round, she’ll pick up her second individual win in three tries. She had seven birdies on the day.
The Longhorns lead by 14 strokes after shooting 589 through the first two rounds. Oklahoma State is in second place.
Papp isn’t alone in the top scorers as Emilee Hoffman sits in a tie for second, one shot back. Hoffman had the best round of the day, shooting 70 to open the action. Her 76 in the second round has her at 146, 2 over par.
Maddie Luitwieler, who is competing as an individual, is in fifth after two rounds. She shot 149 for 5 over par.
Sophia Schubert sits tied for sixth after carding a 72 in the second round. She shot 150 through the first two rounds to sit at 6 over par.
Greta Isabella Voelker is one shot back in a tie for ninth at 7 over par.
Agathe Laisne sits in a tie for 27th at 11 over par.
The Longhorns will tee off at 1 p.m. Wednesday for the final round.
