The Texas women’s golf team moved up one spot to finish fourth at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate in Lake Elmo, Minn. Wednesday.
Kaitlyn Papp led the Longhorns as she finished in sixth after shooting 209, 7 under par.
Three Longhorns finished the tournament under par as No. 8 Texas finished 17 under par. Texas shot 847 to finish 11 shots back of first place Alabama. UCLA and Southern Cal rounded out the top-3.
“This was a solid start to our season,” head coach Ryan Murphy said. “We competed with and beat some of the best teams in the country. We are capable of winning events like this but, ultimately, this just wasn’t our week. Our time is coming soon.”
Papp shot in the 60s in each of the first two rounds and finished with a 72 in the final round.
Emilee Hoffman had the best final round, shooting 67 on the day. She tied for 13th as she finished at 212, 4 under par.
Hailee Cooper also finished under par, shooting a 2-under-par 214 to tie for 18th. The freshman led the tournament with 44 pars.
Agathe Laisne finished at 218 while Sara Kouskova shot 221 in the tournament, those scores were good for 35th and a tie for 40th.
Patty Tavatanakit of UCLA earned medalist honors by shooting 203, 13 under par.
