Texas golfers lead Betsy Rawls Invitational

The Texas women’s golf team is in first place after Friday’s opening round of the Betsy Rawls Invitational at the UT Golf Club.

The Longhorns shot 291, 3 over par, to lead Kent State by three strokes.

UT’s Agathe Laisne is competing as an individual and tops the field at 4-under-par 68.


“It was a solid day for us top to bottom,” UT coach Ryan Murphy said. “Overall, it was a nice day for us. The finish was big for us today.”

Kaitlyn Papp led the Longhorns’ team scoring with a 71 to tie for second. Hailee Cooper is tied for fourth with a 72, and Greta Isabella Voelker is one shot back in a tie for eighth. Sara Kouskova shot a 75, and Emilee Hoffman carded a 77.

Florida is in third place, four shots behind Texas.
