Texas women’s golf wins Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Championship

The Texas women’s golf team shot 876 over three rounds to win the Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Championship in New Orleans on Tuesday.

The Longhorns entered the final round leading by four strokes and completed a wire-to-wire victory with a two-stroke margin.

Maddie Luitwieler led Texas, finishing in a tie for eighth place after shooting 219.

Agathe Laisne and Hailee Cooper tied for 11th at 220. Cooper had the low round of the tournament among Longhorns, shooting 69 in the first round.

Two shots back from Laisne and Cooper, Kaitlyn Papp finished in a tie for 17th.

Sara Kouskova rounded out the Longhorns’ effort, carding 227 to tie for 34th.

Fifth-ranked Duke took second place, with No. 1 Southern Cal finishing third.

Leonie Harm of Houston and Addison Baggarly of Florida tied for medalist honors at 216.
