Texas women’s golf team leads at Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational

Led by a trio of top-10 performances, the Texas women’s golf team is in first place after two rounds at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational in Kailua, Hawaii.

The teams played two rounds on the first day of action as Texas is looking to repeat as tournament champions.

Maddie Luitweiler and Hailee Cooper each shot 146 through two rounds to lead the Longhorns and sit tied for fifth place.


Sara Kouskova shot 147 on the day to sit tied for seventh. Her 69 in the second round was the low round of the day for Texas.

Kaitlyn Papp and Emilee Hoffman ensured the Longhorns had every team member in the top 20. Papp sits tied for 14th while Hoffman sits tied for 19th. Papp shot 150 while Hoffman shot 152 through two rounds.

The Longhorns’ 588 is five shots better than second place SMU. Texas A&M sits in third and trails Texas by seven shots.

The tournament concludes Wednesday.
