Texas women’s golf team wins NCAA Norman Regional

The Texas women’s golf team shot 287 Wednesday, 855 overall, at the NCAA Norman Regional to take the top spot and advance to the NCAA Championships.

Agathe Laisne, fresh off of being named Big 12 golfer of the month for April, led the Longhorns with a third-place finish. Laisne shot 72 in the final round to finish at 211, 5 under par.

Kaitlyn Papp also recorded a top-10 finish, shooting 73 Wednesday and 214 overall to take a tie for seventh.


Sara Kouskova tied for 19th after shooting 72 and finishing at 217.

The three top-20 finishes helped Texas win its first regional in program history.

Hailee Cooper recorded one more stroke than Kouskova and finished tied for 27th.

Emilee Hoffman rounded out the Longhorns’ scorers with a 220 overall to tie for 36th.

Kaitlin Milligan of Oklahoma and Olivia Mehaffey of Arizona St. tied for medalist honors after shooting 208 for the tournament.

Florida, Wake Forest, Purdue, Arizona State and Mississippi also advanced out of the regional.

Texas will next compete at the NCAA Championships in Fayetteville, Ark., which begins Friday, May 17.
