Guo, Horns lead field in women’s golf tournament

Freshman Sophie Guo topped the leaderboard and helped No. 2 Texas to the first-round lead Monday at the three-day White Sands Invitational in Nassau, Bahamas.
Guo shot a 6-under-par 66 to lead by two strokes, and UT’s 12-under 276 topped the field by seven.
Also under par for the Longhorns were Sára Kousková at 69, tied for fourth; Kaitlyn Papp at 70, tied for eighth; and Emilee Hoffman at 71, tied for 12th. Hailee Cooper added a 73 to UT’s total.
Competing as individuals, Kelly Xac carded a 76 and Maren Cipolla a 77.
