Texas women’s tennis falls 4-2 to Baylor

No. 24 Texas closed its regular season with a 4-2 loss to Baylor on Saturday at Westwood Country Club.

The Bears (17-13, 6-3) won the doubles point and then scored three straight-sets singles victories.

After UT dropped a match at sixth singles, Neda Koprcina cut the lead to 2-1 with a 7-6 (7), 6-0 victory over Rhiann Newborn.


Baylor took a 3-1 edge when Theresa Van Zyl defeated Texas freshman Daniella Roldan 7-6 (1), 6-1 at fifth singles.

The Bears won the match when Baylor’s Kiah Generette defeated Dani Wagland 6-3, 6-3. Longhorn Katie Poluta closed out a singles victory over Karinna Traxler 6-3, 6-2 just moments apart from Generette’s victory.
