Bianca Turati advances at USTA Pro Circuit event

Posted September 28th, 2016

Bianca Turati, a UT freshman tennis player, defeated Viktoriya Lushkova of Oklahoma St. 6-2, 6-2  to advance to the second round of the USTA Pro Circuit event in Stillwater, Okla. on Wednesday.

The freshman’s win over the No. 39 player sets up a matchup with Katie Swan of Great Britain on Thursday.

“Under perfect circumstances it is awfully difficult to win a match in one of these pro tournaments,” Texas head coach Howard Joffe said. “But when you consider all the changes she is going through in such a short time as a freshman in a new country, I am in awe of her diligence, humility and fighting spirit.”

Turati, who’s competing as an amateur at the event,  and her Texas teammate twin sister, Anna, are natives of Barzano, Italy.
