Longhorns women’s tennis team sweeps West Virginia

The No. 21 Texas Longhorns women’s tennis team defeated West Virginia 4-0 in Morgantown, W.V., on Friday.

The Longhorns won the doubles point and came away with three singles victories to take the match.

“Today was extremely challenging, and I am encouraged to see our ladies starting to compete better as they get more experience,” head coach Howard Joffe said.


Neda Koprcina sealed the win with a 7-6, 6-2 victory over Paula Goetz.

After the Longhorns won the doubles point, Petra Granic defeated Christina Jordan 6-1, 6-3 to make it 2-0 for Texas.

Bianca Turati topped Kaja Mrgole 6-2, 7-5 to pull Texas to within a win of securing the match.

Daniella Roldan and Dani Wagland opened the competition with a 6-0 win at third doubles.

Koprcina and Anna Turati clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 win over Goetz and Lyn Yuen Choo.

Texas next takes on Iowa State in Ames on Sunday at 10 a.m.
