Posted May 24th, 2017

Bianca Turati, a Texas freshman tennis player, lost to No. 23 Josie Kuhlman of Florida 6-1, 6-0 in the singles round of 64 at the NCAA Championships in Athens, Ga. Wednesday night.

“Tonight, Bianca was definitely at the mercy of a player who was at the very top of her game,” said Texas head coach Howard Joffe in a UT press release. “I know Bianca is bitterly disappointed, but as always I couldn’t be more proud of her efforts. She will benefit from this year’s experience and will be even better next year.”

The UT freshman was named the ITA Texas Region rookie of the year last week. Turati was also named the Big 12 freshman of the year and selected to the first team of the All-Big 12 team. She’ll be on the ballot for the ITA National Rookie of the Year award.

Turati finishes her season at 17-8 in singles competition.
