The Longhorns women’s tennis team made quick work of the Iowa State Cyclones, winning 4-0 at the Texas Tennis Center on Friday.
Texas won the doubles point before rattling off three straight singles victories. The win is their 12th straight for the first time since 2005.
Fernanda Labrana and Marta Perez-Mur defeated Annabella Bonadonna and Karen Alvarez 6-0. Petra Granic and Bojana Markovic teamed up to seal the doubles point with a 6-2 win.
Dani Wagland opened singles action with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Alvarez.
Perez-Mur took a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Margarita Timakova.
Granic sealed the match win by topping Espindola 6-3, 6-2.
“For a coach, when we decided that we were going to go ahead and play without Bianca Turati, it was a little anxiety-provoking,” UT head coach Howard Joffe said. “I did feel confident in the strength of the team and trusted that the girls would band together and do a good job. My sense is that the group was just a little tired but the hope is with some good food, some good sleep and we’ll be ready to go against West Virginia.”
The top-ranked Turati got the day off, but Texas dominated anyway.
The Longhorns women’s tennis team next faces West Virginia on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
