The win makes it 14 straight for the Longhorns. They hadn’t won that many matches in a row since 2000 when they won 17 straight.
“Certainly, they’ve made the coach look good, that’s for sure,” UT head coach Howard Joffe said.
Top-ranked Bianca Turati clinched the victory with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Theresa Van Zyl.
Texas opened with two wins in doubles to seal that point. Petra Granic and Bojana Markovic won 6-0 before Anna Turati teamed with her twin Bianca to win 6-2.
Senior Dani Wagland gave Texas its first singles win as she defeated Angie Shakhraichuk 6-3, 6-1.
Granic made it 3-0 with her 6-1, 6-3 win over Camilla Abbate.
Texas hosts the Big 12 Championships next week at the Texas Tennis Center. The event begins Thursday with the first round of the women’s draw. The Longhorns open play in the quarterfinals on Friday against one of the first-round winners. The tournament draw will be released Sunday.
