Texas trio falls in singles at NCAA Championships

Anna Turati, Bianca Turati and Petra Granic each fell in the second round of the NCAA Championships at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla., on Tuesday.

Anna Turati had the longest match of the UT trio, falling in three sets. Elysia Bolton of UCLA won 4-6, 6-3, 7-5. The loss snapped Turati’s 19-win streak in singles action. She finished 26-4 in singles overall.

Fernanda Contreras of Vanderbilt beat Granic 6-3, 6-4 to end the junior’s run. Granic finishes her season at 23-6 in singles.


Bianca Turati, ranked highest among the UT trio at No. 28, lost to the second seed Katarina Jokic of Georgia. Jokic won 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 to move on to the next round. The UT junior finished 12-8 in singles this season.
