Anna Turati won twice over top-10 competition to advance to the semifinals of the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla. on Friday.
Turati, ranked 17th nationally, beat No. 7 Sara Daavettila of North Carolina 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (10-8) to qualify for the semifinals. She’ll face Alexa Graham of North Carolina on Saturday.
Earlier, the Texas senior dominated the top seed to advance to the quarterfinals. She beat No. 2 Estela Perez-Somaribba of Miami 6-0, 6-1 in the round of 16. Turati hadn’t dropped more than one game in each of her matches on the way to the quarterfinals at the event.
On Thursday, Turati won twice to advance to the round of 16. She defeated Yufei Long of Boston College 6-1, 6-0 before topping Solymar Colling of San Diego 6-1, 6-1.
