A pair of Longhorns advanced to the semifinals of singles competition at the ITA Texas regional in College Station on Saturday.
Lexi Ryngler and Marta Perez Mur each won twice to advance.
Ryngler defeated Dorthea Faa-Hviding of Texas A&M 6-1, 6-2 in the quarterfinals. She opened with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Margarita Skriabina in the round of 16.
Perez Mur didn’t look poised to come out victorious at first but fought back to win the quarterfinal in three sets. She topped Lisa Mays of Texas Tech 0-6, 7-6 (11-9), 6-3. Perez Mur opened the day with another hard-fought win. She triumphed over Sahaja Yamalapalli of Sam Houston State 2-6,7-6 (7-3), 6-4 .
Ryngler next faces Katya Townsend of Texas A&M in the semifinals. Perez Mur also faces an Aggie in her semifinal match, taking on Lucia Quiterio. Both matches are Sunday at noon.
