Texas women’s tennis team falls at ITA Team Indoor Championships

The No. 7 Texas women’s tennis team fell 4-3 in a back-and-forth battle with No. 9 Florida State at the ITA Team Indoor Championships in Chicago on Friday.
The Longhorns lost the doubles point as the Turati sisters came up with UT’s only victory. The Seminoles then won three singles contests to take the match.
Nandini Das clinched the match with a tough 7-6 (4), 3-6, 6-4 win over UT freshman Adri Nagy.
After Das and Andrea Garcia clinched the doubles point with a 7-5 win over Fernanda Labraña and Marta Perez Mur, Victoria Allen made it 2-0. Allen had a straight sets win over Tijana Spasojevic 6-3, 6-1.
Anna Turati kept the Longhorns alive with a win. She defeated Petra Hule 6-1, 6-1 to make it 2-1 in favor of Florida State.
Bianca Turati then defeated Emmanuelle Salas 6-3, 6-1 to tie the match.
Andrea Garcia beat Perez Mur 6-4, 6-4 to put Florida State in the lead again.
Fernanda Labraña won in straight sets, 7-6 (4), 6-0 over Sasha Hill to make it 3-3.
The Longhorns now move to the consolation bracket to face Illinois Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
