The No. 6 Texas women’s tennis team defeated No. 15 Michigan 4-2 at the Texas Tennis Center on Tuesday.
Marta Perez Mur clinched the win with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 triumph over Bella Lorenzini.
“You want to be the last match, because you want to clinch,” Perez Mur said on the Longhorn Network. “I’m super honored to represent the University of Texas.”
The Longhorns began the day with two straight doubles wins. Adri Nagy and Tijana Spasojevic teamed up to beat Anca Craciun and Lorenzini 6-4. The No. 29 Turati twins, Anna and Bianca, clinched the doubles point with a 6-1 win over Giulia Pairone and Chiara Lommer.
Anna Turati, ranked fourth in singles, gave Texas a 2-0 lead with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Nicole Hammond.
After a setback at fifth singles, Bianca Turati brought Texas to within a win of clinching by beating Pairone 6-2, 6-2.
Texas starts Big 12 play on Friday against West Virginia.
