The Texas women’s tennis team began Big 12 play with a decisive 6-1 win over West Virginia at the Texas Tennis Center on Friday.
Fernanda Labraña clinched the Longhorns’ 10th overall win with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Anne-Sophie Courteau. Texas moves to 10-3 in dual match competition after the win.
Bianca Turati teamed up with Gabby Cusano for a 6-0 win over Giovanna Caputo and Nicole Roc to open doubles action. Labraña and Marta Perez Mur clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 win over Anne-Sophie Courteau and Kat Lyman.
After West Virginia tied it at 1-1 with a singles win, Adri Nagy put Texas ahead again with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Lyman.
Bianca Turati made it 3-1 for Texas with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Anastasiia Bovolskaia.
After the Longhorns clinched the win, Tijana Spasojevic and Perez Mur added two more singles wins for the final score.
