Tiarra Davis was selected as the Big 12 pitcher of the week on Tuesday after guiding the Longhorns to a weekend series win over Kansas.
It’s the first time Davis has received the award during her career at Texas. She had two complete game shutouts against the Jayhawks and struck out 15 batters. She allowed one unearned run off three hits and struck out seven in the Saturday opener. The Longhorns won the game 3-1.
Davis allowed no runs on five hits and struck out eight in Sunday’s series finale. She also went 1 for 3 from the plate in the 6-0 victory.
Davis lowered her ERA to 1.81 over the weekend and picked up her 18th and 19th wins. She’s second in the league in victories.
