Current and former Longhorns attempt to qualify for IAAF World Championships

Nearly two dozen current and former Longhorns are set to compete at the USATF Championships in Sacramento, Calif., beginning Thursday in an effort to qualify for the IAAF World Championships.

Qualifiers at the USATF Championships will compete at the IAAF World Championships this summer. Qualifiers of the USATF Junior Championships, which runs concurrently, will compete at the Pan American Junior Championships in July in Lima, Peru.

In addition, more Longhorns will be in action at the Jamaican National Senior Championships in Kingston this week, attempting to qualify for the IAAF World Championships.


Coverage of the meet will be on NBC Sports Network on Friday and then NBC on Saturday and Sunday. Friday’s coverage begins at 9:30 p.m. while coverage starts at 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

The IAAF World Championships are set to take place in London in August with Texas head coach Mario Sategna leading the men’s Team USA.

In two weeks, the Longhorns will have athletes competing at the Canadian Track and Field Championships in Ottawa.
