The Texas men’s distance medley relay team came close to qualifying for the NCAA Championships at the Alex Wilson Invitational at Notre Dame, with another opportunity to do so next week.
Texas finished the race in sixth with a time of 9 minutes, 31.80 seconds. With a conversion rate applied to account for Notre Dame’s oversized track, Texas’ time ranks 13th in the country. The top 12 distance medley relay teams qualify for the NCAAs.
“The guys ran hard and raced well,” assistant coach Brad Herbster said. “We drew the slower heat and had to race on our own for a stretch. I think we have a great DMR with the guys we ran today and we will look to Big 12s and see what we can do there to score big points for the team and try to win another Big 12 title.”
The squad, made up of Alex Rogers, Micaiah Harris, Logan Emery and Sam Worley, will have another opportunity to qualify at the Big 12 Championships next week.
