Texas track and field records six wins at Ted Nelson Invitational

The Texas track and field team took six wins at the Ted Nelson Invitational in College Station Saturday night.

Elena Bruckner highlighted the action, winning two events. Bruckner won the weight throw with a second-best school mark of 61 feet, 3 1/2 inches. She also took the shot put event with a mark of 50-3 1/2.

Tripp Piperi also found success in the shot put. He won the event with a mark of 65-11 1/2. Piperi became the third Longhorn in history to break the 20-meter mark.


The Longhorns picked up two more wins as they swept the 200 meters. Micaiah Harris won in 21.04 seconds while freshman Kynnedy Flannel won the women’s event in 23.46.

Freshman Jonathan Jones won the men’s 400 meters in 46.68 in his first meet.

The Longhorns had 18 top-3 finishes at the event.

Texas next competes at the Clemson Invitational Friday.
