Texas track and field team concludes competition at Texas Tech Shootout

Posted February 9th, 2019

Adding to a pair of school records and various personal bests over the weekend, the Texas track and field squad took another win to close out competition at the Texas Tech Shootout Saturday.

Elena Bruckner had the only win for the Longhorns in Lubbock. She won the shot put on the second day of the event with a mark of 54 feet, 10¼ inches. It was her fourth straight win in the shot put.

The second day of the Shootout also featured second-place finishes by Tripp Piperi and Kynnedy Flannel. Piperi recorded a 66-foot, 3-inch mark in the shot put, and Flannel was the top collegiate finisher in the 200 meters at 23.11 seconds.

“Our distance group out in Seattle had a very good meet, including the school records by Sam Worley and Alex Rogers,” head coach Edrick Floréal said of the weekend’s competitions. “In total, we posted five wins and 23 personal bests. Many of our student-athletes better positioned themselves to come back here to Lubbock in two weeks and compete for Big 12 championships.”
