Texas track and field team takes 10 wins at National Relay Championships

Posted April 27th, 2019

The Texas track and field team took 10 wins and set two meet records at the two-day National Relay Championships in Fayetteville, Ark.

Tripp Piperi had the Longhorns’ only win Saturday, taking the top spot in the shot put with a meet record 67 feet, 6¼ inches.

“It was pretty cool getting the meet record, so that’s something to take away from today, but other than that, I’m going to keep working and getting stronger,” Piperi said. “There’s a lot more coming this season.”

The Texas men and women took second in the team standings, trailing only host Arkansas.

Washington Brown, Micaiah Harris, Jonathan Jones and Sam Worley teamed up to finish the sprint medley relay in 3 minutes, 15 seconds to set the meet record Friday.
