Myles Turner captures preseason All-Big 12 freshman honors

Posted October 2nd, 2014

Jonathan Holmes, Cam Ridley and Isaiah Taylor all grabbed honorable mention honors on the preseason All-Big 12 men’s basketball team on Thursday, according to the league office.

And to little surprise, the honors are starting to roll in for Myles Turner. The 6-foot-11 forward ranked as the nation’s second-overall recruit was dubbed the Big 12’s preseason co-freshman of the year along with Kansas’ Cliff Alexander.

Holmes will be the Longhorns’ only senior this season. He averaged 12.8 points and 7.2 rebounds per game last season as Texas reached the round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament.

Ridley was named to the Big 12’s all-defensive team last season after getting 76 blocks. Taylor led the Horns in assists (4.0) while playing a team-high 30.1 minutes per game.
