Texas wide receiver Daje Johnson is having a hard time staying on the field.
Suspended for the first four games of the season, Johnson is out again, this time with a hamstring injury. Texas announced that Johnson did not travel to Dallas for Saturday’s Red River Showdown against Oklahoma.
Johnson got hurt in the second half of last Saturday’s 28-7 loss to Baylor. Making his season debut, Johnson carried once on a jetsweep for five yards.
On Tuesday, offensive play-caller Shawn Watson revealed that Johnson’s injury is not serious but that he was unsure if the Pflugerville product would suit up against the Sooners. Watson said he has plans to use Johnson as both a receiver and in the backfield.
Last year against OU, Johnson busted an 85-yard punt return for a touchdown in the second half. Texas won 36-20.
