Texas is still Texas. The rest of the nation doesn’t want to play catch-up.
According to a survey via Reddit, The Longhorns are #1 in fan hate nationwide. In a compilation list of infographics published by vox.com titled “40 maps and charts that explain sports in America,” one of the graphics shows that the Texas football team has the largest geography of hate in the Lower 48.
Infographic #31 titled “The most hated team in college football” points out that the most hated gridiron team in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Nebraska and Colorado is The Bevos. The survey is “admittedly unscientific.”
The 40 graphics span not just college football, but cover NBA, NFL, MLB and other minor sports and their trends. Graphics 26 to 31 are particular to college sports, and number 27 (via deadspin.com) reflects states’ highest paid employees. No surprise for Texas – Horns coach Charlie Strong and Texas A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin co-headline that honor at $5 million per year. Only 11 states in the union list a position other than a university coach as the highest wager earner.
