Three-star linebacker Cecil Cherry commits to Texas
Posted December 15th, 2014
Hours after losing an inside linebacker recruit to Tennessee, Texas landed an inside linebacker who had been committed to … Tennessee.
That’s a lot of moving and shaking involving the two UTs.
Cecil Cherry, a three-star prospect, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings of the top recruiting sites, announced on Twitter that he is a Longhorn. Cherry is nation’s 11th-ranked inside linebacker.

Earlier on Monday, Indianapolis prospect Darrin Kirkland, Jr. chose Tennessee over Texas, Oklahoma, and Ole Miss. Kirkland, a four-star recruit, is the nation’s fourth-ranked inside linebacker.
Also on Monday, Texas lost its highest-ranked recruit when offensive tackle Toby Weathersby de-committed from the Longhorns. He had been committed since March.
