Texas guard Damarcus Croaker has been given a full release from his scholarship and will leave school immediately, UT officials said Tuesday afternoon.
A school source said Croaker spoke with coach Rick Barnes on Tuesday morning. It’s believed that Croaker will transfer back closer to his Orlando, Fla., home to be closer to his son, who was born in February.
Croaker played sporadically in recent games. He got 23 minutes in a win over Saint Francis. But he played only four minutes against UT Arlington and a similar amount against Texas State. Barnes was routinely quick to pull Croaker out of games for defensive mistakes or turnovers.
Croaker averaged 1.6 points in five games this season.
