Texas still has the richest football program in the nation despite taking an $8 million dip from 2013, according to Forbes.
The main reason for the decrease was an expensive coaching change that cost Texas $4.4 million alone to buy out Charlie Strong from his Louisville contract. Texas also had to pay severance to former coach Mack Brown’s staff.
The Longhorns raked in $131 million, seven percent more than any other team in college Football. Notre Dame was second at $122 million.
Texas collected $34 million in ticket sales for six home games and $31 million in football-related contributions.
