Vance Bedford out of the running at Colorado State

Posted December 22nd, 2014

Texas defensive coordinator Vance Bedford has been passed up as head coach at Colorado State, according to a source close to the situation.

Several reports say the school will hire Georgia offensive coordinator Mike Bobo.

Bedford, whose wife is from Colorado, reportedly interviewed for the position vacated by Jim McElwain leaving for Florida. Bedford, 56, has never been a head coach.

Texas has been able to retain two assistants who’ve interviewed to be head coaches this offseason. Running backs coach Tommie Robinson was a candidate at Troy, which hired Kentucky offensive coordinator Neal Brown.
