Former Texas softball standout Taylor Hoagland (’13) earned her fourth selection to the USA national team for 2015 Thursday when the teams were announced by ASA and USA Softball after the selection camp in Irvine, Calif.
This is the Flower Mound native’s third straight selection to the national softball team. She missed the 2012 team.
Texas junior Lindsey Stephens was also invited to the selection camp, but did not make the team.
As part of the 2011 team, Hoagland won a gold medal in the World Cup and Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico. She was part of the silver medalist World Cup teams in 2013 and 2014.
Hoagland was a 2013 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-American selection and a four-time Big 12 Conference pick while at Texas. She completed her career with the Longhorns as the school’s all-time leader in home runs (58), runs scored (221), walks (178), slugging percentage (.708) and on-base percentage (.501).
The 2015 USA national team will compete July’s World Cup X in Southern California and the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto from July 15-26.
The USA national softball team has had a former or current Longhorn on its roster 19 of the last 20 years.
