Former Texas tight end M.J. McFarland is going home to finish his college playing career.
On Friday, McFarland told the American-Statesman he is transferring to UTEP to play his senior season in 2015. McFarland, of El Paso, will be eligible right away because he has graduated at Texas. He’ll report soon and participate in spring ball.
“I just know I can make an impact there,” McFarland said.
McFarland led all Longhorns tight ends with 11 catches this past season. He had two touchdowns and 53 yards.
UTEP finished 7-6 last season, falling to Utah State in the New Mexico Bowl.
