Texas has apparently squeezed into a couple of key in-state recruiting battles at the 11th hour.
The nation’s top quarterback, Kyler Murray (Allen), and four-star wide receiver DaMarkus Lodge (Cedar Hill), each took a surprise visit to Texas on Wednesday, sending the Longhorn fan base into hysteria.
Murray, the state’s No. 5 recruit according to 247Sports’ composite ratings, has been committed to Texas A&M since May 28. Lodge, the state’s ninth-ranked player, is a one-time Aggies commit who is believed to still be considering A&M.
Murray and Lodge broke the news via Twitter, each posting a Texas jersey with their high school jersey number. 247 confirmed that the players were on campus.

Longhorns quarterback Tyrone Swoopes deserve our sympathy. Not only does Murray want his job, Lodge wants his number.
