Texas entered the day with a class ranking of ninth nationally, according to 247Sports. Due to huge days by Auburn and UCLA, the Longhorns have dropped to 11th. But Texas didn’t do bad for itself, flipping two players who were committed elsewhere and signing another recruit who was un-committed.

As of 12:30 p.m., the class was ranked 6th by Scout, 7th by ESPN, and 11th by both Rivals and 247.

A 2 p.m. news conference has been scheduled for Charlie Strong to discuss his class. The Statesman’s Brian Davis and CineSport’s Noah Coslov analyze what this class says about Strong in this video.

11:35 a.m. — Five-star Gladewater defensive tackle Daylon Mack picked Texas A&M over Texas and TCU. With that, all of Texas’ targets have picked a school. The Longhorns’ class tops off at 29 pledges.

11:10 a.m. — Cedar Hill wide receiver DaMarkus Lodge committed to Ole Miss over Texas and Texas A&M. Lodge, who is originally from the state of Mississippi, is the state’s No. 6 player in the Fab 55. He was once committed to A&M.

10:10 a.m. — Texas Bowl winner Arkansas beat the Longhorns again, this time for four-star junior college wide receiver Dominique Reed. That leaves Texas with 29 commitments. It’s unlikely it will land anymore today, as WR DaMarkus Lodge and DT Daylon Mack are expected to sign elsewhere.

8:50 a.m. — Three-star Miami cornerback Deandre Baker re-affirmed his commitment to Georgia and spurned Texas. Baker is the first of three players committed elsewhere that Texas wanted but couldn’t flip.

8:45 a.m. — Four-star Rockwall running back Chris Warren picked Texas over Washington and becomes the 29th player in this class. Warren is Texas’ third pick-up of the day, following the flips of wide receiver Ryan Newsome (UCLA) and safety P.J. Locke (Oregon), respectively. Warren is ranked No. 15 in the Statesman’s Fab 55.

8:20 a.m. — Plano West five-star running back Soso Jamabo picked UCLA over Texas on live TV. Jamabo was ranked fifth in the American-Statesman’s Fabulous 55 of the state’s top players.

Jamabo, who recently joked that he would be signing with University of Phoenix or ITT Tech, delivered some more laughs on signing day.

8 a.m. — Texas is trolling the Pac-12 this morning. By 8 a.m., the Longhorns have flipped two players previously committed to Pac-12 programs. Four-star Aledo wide receiver Ryan Newsome has signed with Texas, voiding his commitment to UCLA. On Jan. 23, Newsome chose the Bruins over Texas in a bizarre press conference in which Newsome paused several times, presumably out of uncertainty, before making his announcement.

7:20 a.m. — Beaumont three-star safety P.J. Locke has de-committed from Oregon and signed with Texas. Locke is the nation’s 38th-ranked safety, according to 247Sports’ composite ratings. Texas’ pursuit of Locke intensified after safety recruit Jamile Johnson de-committed from the Longhorns over the weekend.
