Texas 8, Minnesota 0
Why Texas (6-2) won: Sophomore Kacy Clemens shook off a bad start last week at Rice to pick up the win. Clemens went five innings and allowed just one hit. He probably could have gone further, but with a 7-0 lead, coach Augie Garrido felt it was best to end Clemens’ day.
Why Minnesota (0-7) lost: The Gophers were shut out for the third time in two days and finished the series with just two runs. On the season, Minnesota has scored just seven runs in seven games.
Key stat: The bottom of the second inning took 37 minutes to play. Texas scored five runs on two hits and faced three pitchers in the inning.
On deck: UT-Pan American, 6 p.m. Tuesday, 1300, LHN.
