Texas baseball falls to Sam Houston, 5-0
Posted April 14th, 2015
Sam Houston State 5, Texas 0
Why Texas (19-18) lost: The Horns managed just four base-runners, all in different innings. Only Collin Shaw, who walked in the ninth, made it to third base. It was Texas’ first home shutout in almost a calendar year. Pathetic.
Why SHSU (20-19) won: The Bearkats collected 12 hits and walked four times off of Texas starter Josh Sawyer. But above all else, Texas’ ineptitude on offense contributed to SHSU’s sixth win in a row.
Key stat: Again, just four base-runners. They were: Brooks Marlow (double in the fourth), Shaw (single in the sixth, walk in the ninth), and C.J Hinojosa (single in the eighth).
On deck: at Kansas, 6 p.m. Friday, 1300.
